Frequently Asked Questions

We get these questions a lot. Here are our best answers…

Where can I sell my RV Fast

If you need to unload your RV ASAP, and time is more valuable than money (e.g., you’re willing to accept a noticeable discount ), sell your RV to a local RV dealership.
Fast, Simple, and Walk Away all from those RV issues!

Selling RV to Dealer

This is quite similar to selling or buying a car or truck through a dealer. They are the experts at buying and selling, not you. They have the home-court advantage.
HINT: Before you enter their arena, do your homework, and be patient.

Selling My RV

Selling your RV for the maximum amount of money is a straightforward process, and it can be intense.

  • First, start this process 2 to 3 months before the RV season starts.
  • Establish a cash budget to cover the cleaning, repairing, and miscellaneous expenses you will incur.
  • Then, promote your RV in an area where people like RVs and the RV lifestyle.
  • Do your market research. Check the prices and ads of similar RVs in your area. Learn about your competition. Learn the “likes” and “dislikes” of your potential buyers.
  • NOW, get to work. Prepare your RV so it looks its best. Clean, fix, repair, maintain, upgrade, etc!
Don’t skimp on the labor, materials, or supplies. Don’t cut corners to save time.
Replace all tires older than 35 months, regardless of miles.
Inspect the brakes and suspension parts and repair as needed.
Check all plumbing (fixtures, valves, pipes, etc.) for leaks and good operation, verify all electrical items, and service the refrigerator, generator, heating and cooling systems, etc.
  • Have your original paperwork readily available.
  • Remove all personal items. “Stage” the 5th wheel as you would a house.
  • Clean up the grounds around the fifth wheel. Plants? Outdoor rugs? Extend the awning. Remove the BBQ grill, bicycles, broken items, etc.
  • Write a straightforward ad, and describe your RV in the best light (and be truthful).
  • Learn how to screen potential lookers and buyers.
  • Accept the payment at your bank.
  • Learn how to properly write a bill of sale, transfer the title, and answer customer questions.
  • Know when to walk away from a potential buyer when an oddity shows up in their conversation or behavior.
Don’t give much credence to buyer sob stories.
  • Conduct all in-person meetings and transactions in a location, and at a time, that works best for you, the seller of the RV.
  • Whenever possible, have a trustworthy, responsible person at your side, so you stay safe.
  • Along the way, keep a log book and document all of the activities you performed in conjunction with this sale.
Write down everything you did so the next owners will have complete confidence in the used RV they are buying from you.

Facebook Marketplace RVs For Sale by Owner

Friends, once you get the hang of how to write your ad, and how to screen people, this is a good place to start selling your RV.
From my own experience, when you keep your asking price low, you will probably sell your RV within 2 to 4 weeks. And learn how to do the paperwork.

RV Trader Texas

RV Trader is a comprehensive platform for RV owners, and RV dealers, who want to promote their used RV online.
RVTrader is a fee-based selling program and they have good online support.
Again, your pictures, location, asking price, and description are so very important.
From personal experience, when the above items are close to perfect, expect to sell your RV within 2 to 6 weeks.

Local Newpapers

Still a good way to showcase your RV to a different market!

I would. Most RV buyers know that RVs are depreciating assets and they need periodic and routine maintenance. These buyers know that RV ownership is an expensive hobby.
Problems are no big deal. But if you try to conceal a problem, your integrity may suffer.

RV Repairs

When you see a problem, repair the problem quickly. Get it done and over with. You’ll feel better.
